Our tour starts from Studentski Trg and we head toward Western Serbia, known for its wild and untouched nature, tasty cuisine and friendly and hospitable people.

Two and a half hours ride we’ll spend enjoying the beautiful landscapes and listen to interesting stories about this part of the country.

Our first stop is Bajina Bašta, a small town in the foothill of Mt. Tara.

Here, we will see the world-famous attraction, “The House on the Drina”, an isolated house made of logs on a river stone. After a photo stop and a refreshment, we will continue our trip to famous Sargan Eight.  Unique narrow-gauge railway nowadays serves only for the amusement.  During our ride, we will pass and stop on several viewpoints from which one can see fabulous views over Mokra Gora. Authentic cars with wooden seats, wood burning stove and characteristic rattling sound will take us back in 1925 when this railway was put in operation and made a connection between Belgrade and the Adriatic Sea. The track on this section is around 15km long and passes through 22 tunnels with overcoming an altitude difference of 300m.

After almost two and a half hour ride we are returning to the departing station from where we continue our journey to the nearby Mećavnik, or Drvengrad (Wooden City).

The famous director Emir Kusturica  (two times Palme D’Or in Cannes winner) made a decision to build it during the shooting of his film “Life is a miracle”. He decided to convey ruined wooden chalets from the slopes of the mountain, to restore them, equip with luxurious facilities, and to form a new settlement.  The streets in the village bear the names of various individuals that Kusturica holds in high esteem or finds to be personally significant: Nikola Tesla, Ernesto “Che” Guevara, Diego Maradona, Miodrag Petrović Čkalja, Federico Fellini, Ingmar Bergman, Joe Strummer, Novak Đoković …

After Mećavnik, we will go to our hotel, right in time for a delicious and abundant dinner, that will introduce us to the very well-known cuisine of the Western Serbia, irresistibly delicious and very piquant.  There are numerous footpaths around the hotel, so one can quickly burn calories from Guilty Pleasure...

Tomorrow, after breakfast, we will start exploring probably the most beautiful mountain of Serbia, and maybe one of the most beautiful in whole Europe – Mountain Tara. You will not find many places which carry same peace and quiet as Tara does.

We will walk trough one of the many footpaths of Tara, getting us to the incredibly beautiful viewpoint on Canyon of the Drina, the famous Banjska Stena viewpoint. Here we will have the chance to make excellent photos and enjoy a breathtaking view.

After a walk back to our vehicle, we will get on our way to the second pearl of Western Serbia, the Zlatibor mountain.

The region of Zlatibor is famous for its folk architecture, native culture and traditions, wealthy and diverse ethnic heritage, its widely-renowned culinary specialities, healthy food and the balmy climate which have earned Zlatibor a reputation for its healthy air and the status of one of the most popular tourist destinations in Serbia. It encompasses large swathes of picturesque mountain pastures and meadows, scattered with individual or small groups of old Scots pine and is made distinctive by its shallow winding brooks and streams. Around the boundary of the plateau, there are impassable gorges, caves, potholes and mixed woodlands of Scots pine, European black pine, spruce, firs, beech, sessile oak and other species of tree.

Here, we will have a traditional lunch made of specialities of Zlatibor region. (not included).

After we have fed our eyes and souls with beauty and our stomachs with good food, we are heading back to Belgrade.
